Nightlife Culture

Nightlife culture encourages cultural participation of the general population, whether in the form of active cultural contributions or simply as a passive observer enjoying the night. Despite often being described as “apolitical”, experience shows that the integration and exchange of music and dance can play an important role in spreading political issues.

Nighttime Economy

The nighttime economy has developed into an important economic factor. Its potential lays not only in economics – for example in the number of jobs created; it also sets trends. The benefits aren’t limited to trades such as gastronomy, music or other creative industries; diverse industrial areas have discovered and made use of the creative potential connected to nightlife.

Urban development

One of the greatest challenges for “Urban Nightlife Development” is currently urban planning in regard to nocturnal activities. The situation is further intensified through the constant decrease in urban free spaces over the past decades. The question arises which innovations cities need in order to retain their night-time attractiveness in the future.

Health issues

Celebration is synonymous with pleasure and vitality, however excesses have always belonged to this way of life. Individual risk behaviour affects not only one’s own personal safety, but can also affect one’s behaviour, therefore potentially endangering the safety of others.
